I'm Charlie Kitcat and I'm a travel ghostwriter. Some suspiciously effective email courses, some LinkedIn ghostwriting for travel founders, some travel newsletter writing, all that jazz. Took a good while to get here, mind you.

I've been writing freelance as a side hustle since 2020 (with pieces in The Times, Daily Mail and The i Paper, among other content writing and strategy gigs), squeezed in around a PR career working with brands like Icelandair and EA SPORTS at one of London's biggest firms. A year or so ago it became the whole, beautiful job.
 

And what a time to make the leap. Five months of it in India, then on rickety desks from the Mississippi to Granada, New York to Cádiz, Vancouver to Lisbon. London too, of course. But always hunched over a laptop somewhere, learning the wax-and-wane mechanics of the travel profession from the clever minds who've made it what it is. What can I say, you can't write about travel from behind the same desk every day. So roaming it shall be.
 

I went all in on travel because it brings the two things I love most, together. The opportunity to meet people you'd never cross paths with and learns about things and perspectives wholly unexpected. And working out (or at least trying) a strange place before it works me out first. If it sounds familiar, they're the same skills that make a good travel business tick, the same experiences that make a trip to some crazy destination so special.
 

Few industries have had to absorb this much change this quickly too. Climate change, the social media boom, wars and crises coming out of our ears. All of it while keeping loyal customers happy and learning to win over entirely new ones. That's a lot to carry so you have to be pretty resilient and particularly adaptable, as it goes.
 

Just like in travel. All lines up rather delightfully, I think. 
 

Outside of work? Well, if I’m not in a plane, train or automobile in one of the 50+ countries I've visited, you can find me in a few different places. At a desk, for one (don’t worry). Aside from that, I might be getting hit for six on the cricket field with a team I co-founded, the Dell Boys. I might be immersed in the latest Paul Theroux or Jan Morris, or, on particularly strange evenings, I might be practicing my Mongolian throat singing in an obscure London pub. 
 

If you’re watching Bourdain, you might even catch me on an episode of Parts Unknown in Vietnam... You know that moment Obama and Anthony Bourdain are talking about world peace in a small restaurant eating noodle soup? Look out for the guy with the terrible haircut and Coors Light t-shirt coping cackhandedly with chopsticks (36.34, really). And I’ll tell you a secret, I still don’t have the knack.
